Waypic was my solution to a problem I had after completing Tour Aotearoa in May 2026. I wanted to keep the route as images with specific statistics. I couldn’t find a what I wanted online, so I decided to build it.
Waypic allows the user to upload .gpx files and adjust the map style, how the route looks and which statistics should be included.
This is the most basic alpha version. To create the it, I used Paper.design since it is an html/css canvas which made it easier for an initial exact translation of the UI via MCP to Cursor, where I could then fix the issues directly in code.
It was extremely satisfying working on a small idea that I needed and could use as I was still developing it. This is just the beginning, more coming in the future.
